Finance head exits quick commerce firm and is expected to rejoin Flipkart as sector competition intensifies
Vipin Kapooria, the **Chief Financial Officer of quick commerce platform Blinkit, has resigned from his role roughly a year after taking charge, according to multiple industry reports.
Kapooria joined Blinkit around September–October 2024 as the company’s first full-time CFO since the departure of Amit Sachdeva in 2022, bringing extensive finance leadership experience from his earlier stints in companies like Flipkart, OYO, Yum! Restaurants and Birlasoft.
Industry sources indicate that Kapooria is likely to rejoin Flipkart, marking his third stint with the e-commerce giant, where he previously held senior finance roles. The move comes at a time of intensifying competition in India’s quick commerce sector, with rivals such as Zepto, Swiggy’s Instamart, and Flipkart Minutes vying for market share.
There has been no formal confirmation from Blinkit or its parent company Eternal, but the leadership change has already had a ripple effect — with Eternal’s shares sliding to a five-month low following the announcement, reflecting investor reaction to the news.
Kapooria’s departure underscores the challenges facing finance leaders in fast-moving, capital-intensive segments like quick commerce and highlights the broader strategic recalibrations underway as major players scale and prepare for potential public listings and deeper market competition.
