Bill Watkins to step down as Chief Revenue Officer at Pinterest after 12-year stint

Bill Watkins is set to exit his position as Chief Revenue Officer at Pinterest at the close of the current quarter. Sharing news of his departure, Watkins looked back on his 12-year tenure at the company, describing it as one of the most rewarding phases of his professional life.

During his tenure, he reported directly to the CEO and was part of Pinterest’s Executive Leadership Team. He spearheaded the company’s global sales and monetization strategy, leading a workforce of over 2,000 people worldwide.

“After twelve incredible years, my chapter at Pinterest is coming to an end, and I’ll be stepping away at the end of the quarter. It’s been an extraordinary journey.
When I joined, we were a team of 200, had 60 million users globally, and zero revenue. Today, Pinterest is home to thousands of employees, serves 600 million users worldwide, and supports tens of thousands of advertisers who have generated billions of dollars in revenue on the platform,” he shared in a LinkedIn post.

Watkins has spent 12 years at Pinterest, taking on multiple leadership responsibilities across his time with the company.

More recently, Pinterest named Claudine Cheever, formerly of Amazon, as its new Chief Marketing Officer. She succeeds Andréa Mallard, the company’s long-serving CMO, who has moved to Microsoft AI in the same role. In addition, Pinterest has appointed Lee Brown to the newly established position of Chief Business Officer.

A veteran of the technology industry, Bill brings over 20 years of experience with a strong emphasis on digital media. He joined Pinterest in 2014 and has played a key role in shaping its commercial growth.
