PR 2.0: The New Age of Public Relations

A new academic title, PR 2.0: The New Age of Public Relations, has been launched with a combined emphasis on real-world industry relevance and social impact. Written by communications veteran Samir Kapur, the book is positioned as a practical handbook for students and young professionals trying to find their footing in today’s fast-evolving media environment.

The book tackles what it describes as the "Great Unbundling" of media, presenting a clear, actionable framework that links academic concepts with the everyday realities of the public relations profession. Intended to support classroom learning, it focuses more on practical execution than on conventional theory.

Beyond its professional utility, the initiative also has a strong philanthropic dimension. As with Kapur’s earlier publication, 100 percent of the author’s earnings from PR 2.0 will go toward scholarships for students from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS). Proceeds from his previous book supported the education of 10 students.

The book is currently available through its publisher, Ink Publication, and is expected to be listed on Amazon and Flipkart in the coming days. Early readers can purchase it directly via the publisher’s website. Speaking about the inspiration behind the project, Kapur said, “A group of students urged me to create something genuinely useful for their careers. They felt existing textbooks were outdated and disconnected from the day-to-day intensity of modern PR. I wrote this book to close the gap between classroom theory and boardroom practice. It transforms my 30 years of experience into a guide that also helps fund scholarships for deserving EWS students.

The book explores the ‘Great Unbundling’ of today’s media landscape. It replaces traditional academic theory with the ‘Code Red’ protocols and PESO frameworks I use when training CXOs. It includes practical tools for strengthening reputational resilience. Additionally, 100% of my royalties support EWS scholarships. The idea is that professional growth should directly create educational opportunities for talented students who lack financial resources.”

According to Kapur, every copy sold contributes directly to a student’s education, aligning career-focused learning with tangible social impact.
